COUNTRY PROFILES

In the present market environment, it is especially important for investors to keep track of what is happening elsewhere in the world. This module presents an encapsulated view of the major world economic powers - Britain, European Monetary Union, Japan, Canada, Australia and the United States. As participation in equity investing grows, it is increasingly important for the savvy investor to be aware of opportunities worldwide. Working relationships between economies have become closer, and as a result, doors of opportunity have opened for market players.

The global marketplace is an opportunity to diversify risk. And it has become easier for market players in one country to invest in another. While foreign investors have always found U.S. markets attractive, it is only relatively recently that U.S. investors explored opportunities abroad. To help make rational decisions, it is important they know about those economies that are or could be major markets for the companies in which they are interested. At the same time, investors want to know the environment in which overseas firms operate. Favorable opportunities to invest abound overseas, especially in companies that have ties worldwide.
